A Superconducting Joint Technique for Round Wires

This paper describes a technique to superconductively splice multifilament wires. To date the technique has achieved joints capable of carrying a superconducting current of 200 A at 10 K in self field. Joints details, as well as testing methods and results are presented here.

Analysis of Continuity and Proximity Effect Conductivity Limits in ''in Situ'' Multifilamentary Superconducting Wires

We focus on the question of whether continuity or the proximity effect is the dominant factor for the high critical current in "in situ" materials. The analysis of the experiments indicate that proximity plays a role at low Nb concentration while continuity is the dominant factor for high Nb concentration.

A 50 mm BORE, 13 TESLA SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET EMPLOYING A PREREACTED MULTIFILAMENTARY Nb3Sn CONDUCTOR

Following the construction of two hybrid magnets, we intend to build up a third hybrid magnet which will produce about 30 T. A prereacted multifilamentary Nb Sn conductor will be employed for the 12 T superconducting part of the hybrid. As a first step for the project, we have designed, constructed and tested a magnet which consists of 14 double-pancakes made of a prereacted multifilamentary Nb...

Superconducting persistent-current qubit

We present the design of a superconducting qubit that has circulating currents of opposite sign as its two states. The circuit consists of three nanoscale aluminum Josephson junctions connected in a superconducting loop and controlled by magnetic fields. The advantages of this qubit are that it can be made insensitive to background charges in the substrate, the flux in the two states can be det...
